Hi, I’m Lucy. Since I was a whippersnapper I’ve always loved to draw. You know the sorta thing: moustaches on magazines, spectacles on sleeping people. I like to think I’ve advanced a bit since then (but I’m still not averse to a bit of etch a sketching on a drunk person). Honestly though, nothing makes me quite as happy as settling down with a crisp new sketchbook and a box of really fancy-dan colouring pencils (for pencil enthusiasts, I heart Caran D’ache pencils), some watercolour paints, most likely a bit (or a slab) of chocolate too, and just letting the quirky character of a person or animal come alive on the page.

I’m a seaside kinda gal. The sea is often the backdrop to my life’s adventures: I’ve lived on a houseboat and in a clifftop coastguard cottage, and now have sea views if I climb the hill behind our house. Once upon a time, I had two funny sausage dogs, Greta and Bourg, and one of my favourite pastimes was singing sea shanties with them. Anyone who has ever played a harmonica to a dachshund will know these dogs can seriously sing… The singing sausage dogs started to pop up in my illustrations pretty frequently, and so Sea Shanties and Sausages was born.

I live in East Sussex with my beloved and hirsute other half, our comedian-in-the-making four year old son (his current obsession being that great invention – the Whoopee Cushion), our dog, Betty, and cat, Bob. (Look out for these two in my illustrations – Boggle-Eyed Bob likes to make a regular appearance.)

My other passion is writing, and you can find out more about that here.
